Hail Mary Science

The science of Project Hail Mary
Andy Weir's Project Hail Mary is the kind of science fiction you can check with a pencil: a science teacher wakes up alone on a spaceship and has to work out, one experiment at a time, what is happening to the Sun and how to fix it. This site follows the novel chapter by chapter and explains the physics, chemistry and biology behind each scene.
Every chapter separates established science from the author's inventions, walks through the calculations the narrator makes, and includes a simulator so you can change the numbers and see what happens. It is written for readers with no science background, without simplifying things to the point of being wrong.
It is a personal project by a reader, unaffiliated with the author, the publisher or the film studio.
